SCOTLAND: Beatsons Building Supplies, one of Scotland largest independent builders' merchants, with depots in Alloa, Cumbernauld, Dunfermline and Penicuik,received a silver gilt medal from the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society for their display garden entitled 'From Construction to Catwalk'.
At this year's Gardening Scotland Show which took place from 3-5 June at The Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh.
The garden was designed to support and promote the Beatson's nominated charity for 2011 – Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
The garden, designed by Carol Gallagher McCulloch incorporated elements of all types of building materials used for construction and available from Beatsons, with flower displays that reflected both CHAS and Beatsons' own corporate colours.
The garden was featured on the popular BBC 1 Scotland gardening show The Beechgrove Garden and BBC1 Scotland's Reporting Scotland also used the garden as their location to report from the Gardening Show on the Friday evening.
Mark Northway, director at Beatsons, said: "We're thrilled that the garden was so popular with the general public and we are delighted with our award of a silver gilt medal by the RCHS. It was a pleasure to help support CHAS, our charity of the year."
Amy Telford, CHAS fundraiser, said: "The Gardening Scotland show was a fantastic awareness raising event for us and the garden looked stunning. We're thrilled that Beatson's chose to support CHAS. All the money raised at the event will help to support children and young people who have a life-shortening condition and their families across Scotland."
