WALES: Registered social landlord Cartrefi Conwy has selected Jewson as its supply-chain partner of choice, following an extensive selection process.

The aim of the partnership is to improve efficiencies within Cartrefi Conwy’s Building Maintenance Unit, which should lead to significant improvements in value for money and productivity.

Cartrefi Conwy was established in 2008 after Conwy County Council (North Wales) carried out a ballot in November 2007 and saw tenants voting in favour of a Large Scale Voluntary Transfer (LSVT) to the new organisation. Approximately, 3,800 homes and 159 leaseholder flats were transferred along with related assets.

In order to secure the best supply chain partner Cartrefi Conwy enlisted the support of procurement specialist Cirrus Purchasing to manage the tendering process to find a merchant that would combine flexibility, expertise and professionalism. Jewson was able to deliver on a number of factors including tailored services such as a dedicated managed service at a local branch, electronic reports and consolidated invoicing to improve efficiencies for Cartrefi Conwy.

Paul Allen Business Manager at Cartrefi Conwy commented: "Thanks to the buying power and expertise of Jewson we will now be able to stock more products, buy them in more cost effectively and ultimately improve the quality of our repairs service. Working with Jewson we will be able to make sure we are using materials that offer best value.”

In addition, Jewson will supply Cartrefi Conwy with an essential van re-stocking service, ensuring the right tools and materials are available for planned and ongoing maintenance work. The vans will be kept regularly stocked helping to save time and ensure repair work isn't hindered. If necessary, Jewson also offers Cartrefi Conwy the option of field replenishment, delivering materials directly to site.

Stephen Rees, sales manager Public Sector (Wales) for Jewson comments, “Jewson is delighted to have been selected as Cartrefi Conwy’s supply-chain partner. Over the past 12 months, we have worked closely with Cartrefi Conwy to devise a bespoke solution, which meets the registered social landlord’s exacting needs and we look forward to working closely with them in the future to deliver the improvements required.”
