The final comprised of four disciplines; painting and decorating, bricklaying, plastering and carpentry with the winners from previous heats battling it out for the Best in Kent title.

Chandlers Building Supplies provided the bricklaying prize winner with £100 worth of bricklaying tools to honour their continual support of Thanet College.

Thanet College finalist Ashley Finch, competing in the Painting and Decorating competition won the award for ‘Best Overall Performance’, acknowledging her attitude, helpfulness and consideration to others.

As well as celebrating the up and coming talent of the South East, the Skilled Up final was aimed at encouraging a competitive spirit amongst learners, and between trades, in line with future aspirations  for the National Skill build competition.

Richard Skinner, Chandlers commercial director, commented: “I felt the standard of Bricklaying was very good and the students seemed to embrace the competition well. I am grateful to Thanet College for giving us the opportunity to support the event and hope to be involved in similar projects in the future. I would also like to congratulate all of the finalists and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
