KENDAL: The Builders Supply Company is the first merchant to take up a Green Energy Centre franchise.

Steve Hill, managing irector, said: “From the first meeting we saw that the added value service that it would bring to our customers would prepare them for the new low carbon future of buildings. We are extremely excited about working with the green energy centre. We have already seen significant benefits in the first few weeks of our partnership.”

When asked why he thought the time was right to make this commitment Mr Hill went on to say: “‘People want to save money on ever increasing energy costs and we want them to do it through merchants. The sooner we get involved the better. The ever increasing number of incentives, renewable heat incentive, feed in tariffs (green energy cash back) and the massive opportunity of the upcoming Green Deal are all covered by the resources of the Unimer backed green energy centre”.

As an independent merchant, The Builders Supply Company has seen that to compete with national brands such as B&Q, energy companies, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, it needs to partner with those that can provide the resources to keep them up to date. “The relatively simple ethos of impartiality of advice and ‘freedom of information’ sits well with us as a merchant and we have no difficulty in getting behind it.”

Mr Hill simply concludes ‘for us it was a no brainer.’

Lorcan Anglin, managing director of the Green Energy Centre stated: “We are delighted to be working with Steve and his team. I believe this is the first of many franchises to open over the coming months. Merchants who ignore the huge opportunity presented by low carbon future will ultimately lose sales.”

“Our offer generates revenue for merchants immediately without having to wait for new legislation such as the Green Deal, but will also comply with it when it does arrive. I am delighted to see that a forward thinking merchant has embraced this concept and I have no doubt that Steve and his company, Builders Supply Company, will reap the benefits in a very short space of time."
