WARWICKSHIRE: The Builders’ Merchants Federation’s Members' Day will enable merchants to deal with change in a practical and effective way.
Held at the Forest of Arden Hotel, Meriden, on 20 September 2011, the event will tackle the major issues regarding the economy and the Green Deal.
“Renowned economist Dr Andrew Sentence is best known as 'hawk' on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. He will take a no-nonsense look at how the recovery is shaping up,” said BMF marketing manager Christine Harding.
David Purdy, head of insulation and delivery in the Energy Efficiency and Consumers Directorate of DECC is another featured speaker.
"BMF Members' Day is all about stimulating content and useful debate” Mrs Harding explained.
“A tried, trusted and deeply valued part of the programme are the seminar sessions, which allow delegates to participate in teach-ins or share best practice sessions in smaller groups.
“Workshops already confirmed for this year include a session on the vital issue of ensuring customers are able to deliver Green Deal projects - which potentially means merchants delivering more product training.”
The use of 'social networking' sites like Facebook to deliver benefits for your business will be also be addressed. “Not by consultants or salesmen, but by people who have actually tried it,” Mrs Harding stated.
Also on the agenda is the latest employment legislation and how to deal with it.
Future policy directions for the BMF will be introduced by BMF managing director Chris Pateman in a workshop format.
“The afternoon of BMF Members' Day is dedicated to bringing merchants and suppliers together to discuss specific industry topics,” Mrs Harding reported.
Among these will be what suppliers are doing to defend traditional-build solutions to the latest Building Regs; shaping the green supply chain; CSH requirements; HSE and heavy blocks; new approaches to pallet recovery; the 'blue deal' to save water; commodity prices and consolidation; fire doors and 'fifths'as well as panel products versus biomass.
