HIGH WYCOMBE: BM TRADA Certification is warning timber importers and merchants to be vigilant when purchasing strength-graded softwood from overseas.
The grade mark may have been applied by staff or suppliers who are not authorised to use it, said TRADA. The timber, therefore, which could bear either a BM TRADA Q-Mark or CE mark, might not be fit for purpose.
"We have redesigned our website to make it possible for buyers to make a quick check on provenance for peace of mind," said Jean Kloos, TRADA's communications officer.
