NORTHAMPTON: BSS Industrial has continued its support of recognised industry competition SkillPIPE, for the third year running.

The competition is run by SummitSKILLS, the sector skills council for building services engineering and promotes excellence across the M&E sector.

BSS Industrial has already donated materials, such as pipes, valves and BOSS consumables for the UK semi-finals which took place in June. Contestants were put to the test with a number of practical challenges in pipe fitting and welding, with six top performers making it through to the UK final.

Peter Sullivan, operations director for BSS Industrial, said: "We are pleased to be able to support SkillPIPE for a third year running. Industry wide competitions that recognise and promote excellence amongst young trainees and apprentices can play a vital role in securing professional standards for the future. Congratulations to the finalists who will now be preparing to wow the judges at the final in September."

Held annually, the SummitSKILLS competitions brings valuable benefits to students, colleges and employers. Competitors gain recognition for exceptional skills, injecting dynamism and excitement into training, while employers enhance their business reputation and improve the skills of their workforce.

BSS Industrial will be donating more materials for the final round which will take place between 14-16 September at Leeds College of Building. This year's penultimate event will be held alongside the UK finals of SkillELECTRIC, SkillFRIDGE, SkillPLUMB and SkillBUILD and will see around 150 trainees competing in front of hundreds of spectators.
