FINCHLEY: Online retailer Plumbworld has donated a bathroom to the North Finchley Allotment Society.

The allotment is to become a self-managed site where the group has sole responsibility for running the society and the holders are building a washroom for members.

James Hickman, managing director of Plumbworld said: "When Peter from the North Finchley Allotment Society got in contact with us, the only question we had to ask was how soon do you want the items?

"We were given a low-down on what the project was all about and how it would benefit the surrounding community and thought it was a great opportunity to get involved."

Scott Morris, e-commerce manager of Plumbworld said: "The site itself was originally prone to fly tipping and the team at North Finchley were left to clean up a complete mess and transform it into something that the community would not only use, but also enjoy."

"Our contribution aided to the toilet block creation which is pivotal to the whole allotment project."
