SPAIN: The NMBS All-Industry Conference at the Don Carlos Hotel in Marbella on 21-24 June 2012 will feature a busy business programme tailored to the market's need to know more about issues that are vital for its survival. To-date some 400 delegates have booked.

Among the speakers at the event will be economist Anthony Hilton; Paul Morrell government chief construction adviser; Alistair Dryburgh of Akenhurst Consultants - 'Mr Lateral Thinking'and, it is planned, a representative from the Federation of Master Builders among others to be confirmed as keynote industry speakers.

The Green Deal will also be covered in detail at the Conference by Chris Ashworth from the CIMCIG, along with the NMBS's response to enabling independents to take advantage of this new market opportunity.

With a nod to the Olympics, Roger Black will be acting as the main host to the event and will be joined by Steve Backley for a keynote address.

The Conference has been scheduled to coincide with the Feast of St John - a religious festival featuring a variety of street entertainers, large bonfires fireworks and midnight swimming in the sea.

NMBS managing director Chris Hayward confirmed that 227 of the hotel's 240 rooms had already been booked and that he was in the process of securing more rooms at an additional hotel, 10-15 minutes away.

Besides BMF, Unimer would also be attending the event as would national merchants Travis Perkins, Grafton Group and delegates from Gibbs & Dandy, part of Jewson.

The sponsorship packages, Mr Hayward said, were deliberately designed to create the right mix of merchants and suppliers and would provide a better supplier-to-merchant ratio, adding real value to the sponsoring suppliers' package.

Mr Hayward added that the NMBS had reached an agreement with the BMF to alternate the organisation of the Conferences from 2013 onwards.
