SCOTLAND: Beatsons Building Supplies, one of Scotland's largest independent builders' merchants, was named Independent Builders' Merchant of the Year 2011 and winner of the 'I Love Independents Day Challenge' by the NMBS at the Society's gala Dinner Dance held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London last week.
Beatsons' title of Independent Builders' Merchant of the Year was voted by the merchant's customers and the 'I Love Independents Day Challenge' was for the company that had offered the best promotion to the trade and which showed the general public the advantages of trading with an independent merchant.
The prizes were presented to director Mark Northway by Chris Hayward, the managing director of NMBS.
John Marshall, managing director of Beatsons, said: "I am delighted to win these two prestigious awards. I would like to thank all of our customers who voted for us. We will continue to promote the benefits of using your local independent builders' merchant.
Beatsons has depots in Alloa, Cumbernauld, Dunfermline and Penicuik.
