UK: RICS welcomed the Growing Places Fund as a much-needed positive strategy from the Government to deliver economic growth.
Building the right infrastructure is vital to delivering the jobs and homes UK Plc needs to grow and return to recovery. It is right that these investment decisions will be made locally as local people are best placed to decide what is right for their community. Whether it is building roads, homes or businesses, chartered surveyors have the knowledge and expertise to deliver development quickly and successfully.
The Growing Places Fund is only the first step in getting development moving again. To deliver real investor confidence, there needs to be further changes in the planning system. RICS is establishing an independent Infrastructure Investment Task Force, led by Martin Moore MRICS, Managing Director and Head of Fund Management, PRUPIM, to develop a range of new investment products and model financial partnerships and to develop best practice and guidance on integrated planning, investment and delivery.
