COVENTRY: Jewson has made three new appointments to its executive management team with Adam Smith joining as sales director, Vince Fenson as procurement director and Simon Jones in the newly created role of business development director.

All three will play a fundamental role in delivering continued sales growth and contributing to the merchant's long term commitment to provide the highest levels of service and innovation to the trade.

As Jewson's new sales director, Adam Smith will draw on his experience working from a variety of commercial and sales roles within the steel industry, with his most recent role at Tata Steel as sales and marketing director.

Moving from his role as deputy head of corporate planning based at Saint-Gobain's head office in Paris, Vince Fenson also joins as procurement director. Mr Fenson has also held a number of senior roles for Gyproc in the past including marketing and business development manager and regional managing director.

Simon Jones also brings key skills with him from his time working in management consultancy across global businesses. He joins from KPMG management consultants where he held a senior position within the operations strategy group and now takes the role of business development director at Jewson. This is a new position within the Jewson executive team and is a direct reflection of the importance the merchant business has placed in this area.

"As the leading supplier of sustainable timber and building materials, Jewson is playing a pivotal role in delivering the green building agenda however, the construction industry will continue to face challenging times ahead," explained Peter Hindle MBE, managing director Jewson.

"Therefore, as a business we need to be in the best possible shape we can be to deliver continued sales growth, strong supply chain solutions and operational excellence. In addition, with the acquisition of Build Center from Wolseley UK, it will enable us to enhance our services and product range to meet customers’ needs even more effectively in the future. Taking all these factors into account, the appointment of Adam, Simon and Vince adds to the existing executive management team and provides all the necessary experience and expertise to drive the business forward."
