SWEDEN: By the close of 2011, the Buildbase Forest, based in SCA Timber’s forest lands in Sweden, will total 34,500 trees planted on behalf of Buildbase customers.

“Converting customers to paperless invoicing was our starting point for the scheme,” says Buildbase’ marketing manager Tony Newcombe, “with 10 trees being planted for every customer making the switch.”

The Buildbase Forest will itself become part of Britain’s building industry when the trees are harvested at maturity between 80-100 years from now, returning timber resources to the grandchildren of the 3,450 Buildbase customers so far signed up to the scheme. “Buildbase will continue its campaign for paperless invoicing in 2012 and for the foreseeable future, as it saves many different kinds of resources, including time for the customer,” Tony Newcombe says.
