UK: Building supplies expert, Gibbs & Dandy, has shown its appreciation to its staff, by treating 200 randomly selected members of staff to a centrepiece for their festive feast.

To thank staff for their efforts during a difficult economic year, the winners will receive a festive turkey in time for Christmas. This comes on top of a recent pay rise for the builders’ merchant staff, as well as a series of events throughout the year, showing Gibbs & Dandy’s commitment to its workforce.

The merchant hosted a Family Fun Day during the summer, where its staff enjoyed a barbeque, bouncy castle and team sports. More recently, it addressed health issues, holding an in-store Health Day for both staff and customers, offering blood pressure checks, literature on common concerns and ailments, as well as free fruit and cereal bars.

Tania Tams, marketing director for Gibbs & Dandy, said: “Our staff have been great during a difficult financial year, and they’re one of the main reasons our branch network has remained resilient and outperformed in many areas.

“The turkey is our way of saying thank you, and I hope it means they can enjoy the festive season, with one more yuletide job ticked off of their to-do lists! We wanted to ensure that efforts that go above and beyond the call of duty – whether from an individual or the entire work force – do not go unnoticed and unrewarded.

“It gives us immense pleasure to treat many of our staff this Christmas, and we’ve found that carrying out small gestures, such as this, can help to create a happy and productive team.”
