INVERURIE: A North East builders' merchant has secured a place in the finals of a prestigious Scottish business award.

GPH Builders Merchants, which has premises in Inverurie and Westhill and has been operating in the North East for 30 years, is a finalist in customer focus category in The Scottish Business Awards.

The awards, which are judged by some of Scotland’s most well-known entrepreneurs and business leaders, including Dragon Den star Duncan Bannatyne, celebrates excellence in Scottish business. The customer focus category considers an organisation’s engagement with its customers, looking at customer loyalty and customer relationships.

Sales and marketing director of GPH, Nikki Mortimer said: “We are delighted to have made it to the finals of these premier awards. To be recognised is a great achievement for the company and for the entire team that has worked so hard over the years. At GPH we work hard to offer superb customer service so reaching the finals in the customer focus category is an excellent achievement.”

GPH, which has 64 members of staff at its two bases, is one of eight finalists in the customer focus category, which had a judging panel of 11 high profile businessmen and businesswomen including Duncan Bannatyne OBE, online Dragon Shaf Rasul, hairdressing millionaire Jennifer Cheyne and Aberdeen’s Bob Keiller.

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in February 2012.

GPH also reached the finals in two categories at this year’s Builders Merchants Awards for Excellence and went on to win the Best Builders’ Merchants Hard Landscaping Display Award at the awards ceremony in London.
