OAKHAM: Staff at Travis Perkins in Oakham are organising a charity raffle in support of two teenagers whose parents and sister died.
Kimberley and Adam Day suffered serious injuries during an incident at their home in Melton on December 8 but lost their parents, Toby and Sam, and younger sister Genevieve.
A trust fund was set up by the Melton Times, sister paper to the Mercury, to support the siblings financially as they plan their futures. Proceeds from the Travis Perkins raffle will go to the fund.
Branch manager Adam Lowe, a special constable with Rutland police, worked with Mr Day when he served as an inspector in the county. He said: "This is a cause close to my heart which will help two teenagers through some difficult times."
Tickets are on sale at Travis Perkins in Station Approach until the end of February costing £1. Prizes include meals at The Olive Branch and Barnsdale Lodge, a stay at Stapleford Park Hotel, vouchers, a food hamper and an angle grinder worth £50.
So far, the fund has raised more than £11,700 including £340 from pupils at Catmose College in Oakham which Kimberley, 15, and Adam, 13, attend.
In a statement their families said: "The community's response has been deeply moving and we are drawing strength from it. It's wonderful to see how people have taken Kimberley and Adam to their hearts and we are just so grateful.
