BATH: A 22-year-old woman died after falling through the roof of a Travis Perkins branch in Bath early on Saturday morning.

Officers were called to the Travis branch on Lower Bristol Road next to the River Avon following reports of an accident. The yard is normally open on Saturday mornings, but following the woman’s death a sign informed customers that it was closed due to unforseen circumstances.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A 22-year-old female was found having fallen around 20ft onto a concrete floor through a roof. Attempts were made to resuscitate her but they were unsuccessful and she sadly died at the scene.

"We are not treating the death as suspicious and the next of kin have been informed."

A spokesperson for Travis Perkins said: "The company is cooperating fully with local Police to establish the cause. Travis Perkins will also conduct its own internal investigation as part of its established procedures.

"Travis Perkins would like to send its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased."
