LEICESTER: NMBS will henceforth be handling all of the Builders' Merchants Federation's financial transactions.
Said Chris Hayward, managing director of the NMBS: "We've always been close to BMF. There has always been a will to work together. The deal was not, I believe, part of a mass tender process. It was more orientated towards what would fit best for all the parties involved."
With the announcement that the BMF will be relocating its headquarters to the Midlands this year, Mr Hayward said: "it made sense for us to handle its finance. Our East Midlands location will make it easier for BMF to access us."
NMBS, he said, was pleased to have won the contract. "All we had to do was agree the price," he commented, adding that outsourcing was not a part of NMBS' new business model. "We are offering this service for a very competitive price, purely to support the BMF," Mr Hayward said. "Because we are used to working together, it should be far easier for the work to be absorbed into what we already do."
The BMF's reduction in subscription fees has paid off, Mr Hayward said. "I believe there has already been an influx of new members and that is good news. I also think that the pace of new subscriptions will pick up," he commented.
