GRANTHAM: Jewson’s Wharf Road site in Grantham, along with adjacent businesses, have been served with a compulsory purchase order (CPO) to allow Lincolnshire County Council to develop the site.

The Station Approach redevelopment is part of the Grantham Growth Point project, led by Lincolnshire County Council and South Kesteven District Council.

Malcolm Williamson, property manager for Jewson parent company Saint-Gobain Building Distribution, said: "Being issued with a CPO is, of course, not ideal and we are currently looking for alternative premises. We remain in discussions with the county council in relation to the order itself and are working together to find a suitable new site - our priority is to ensure continuity of business."

If the CPOs are successful, the local authority hopes to take possession of the land early next year. Project managers told the Grantham Journal that the orders were a “last resort” after attempts to reach an agreement with the firms were unsuccessful.
