WORCESTER: Carl Arntzen, managing director of Bosch Thermotechnology in the UK and Ireland, has been appointed as Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) president for the coming year.

Mr Arntzen's's commitment to the industry began during his time studying for a mechanical engineering degree, during which he spent time working across a number of different departments at Worcester Engineering, including manufacturing and R&;D.

On completion of his degree, he joined the company, now part of Bosch Thermotechnology, as a development engineer in 1985. mr Arntzen has been a board director since 1997 and was appointed managing director in September 2011 with a focus on controlled expansion as the business moves forward.

Worcester, part of the Bosch Group is one of the leading manufacturers of domestic gas, LPG and oil-fired boilers in the UK. The company has also developed its product portfolio to include renewable heating technologies.

"It is a real privilege to have been elected president of the EUA," said Mr Arntzen.

"As one of the UK's most established trade associations, we have a huge role to play in maintaining the gas industries' reputation, both in the UK and overseas. I intend to draw upon my own hands-on experience within the industry, as well as those of the membership, to enhance the EUA's leadership over the year ahead."
