LONDON: Pipe Center and Climate Center are to open a brand new branch in Surrey Quays with a big trade counter and the largest range of stock of its kind available in Central London.

The new city branch, located in the heart of London, is Pipe Center and Climate Center’s greenest branch to date and is geared up to deliver complete customer service excellence.

The branch will combine Pipe Center, which will relocate from its current site on Riley Road, and Climate Center, which will relocate from Camberwell into the new combined branch on Monday 6 August 2012

With an area spanning 30 000 square feet, the large warehouse will enable Pipe Center and Climate Center to stock an extended range of new and existing products. Staff will communicate across the site through wireless headsets, speeding up service and picking times.

The building will feature sensor-triggered lighting, saving significant amounts of energy, and high efficiency air conditioning and heating, based on heat pumps and digital inverter cassettes from Toshiba.

Just 1.5 miles from the city, the branch will open from 7.30am and benefits from 12 customer parking spaces for those collecting items. All orders pre-booked for collection will be processed within an hour, guaranteed by Pipe Center and Climate Center’s customer service charter, its nationwide contract with customers.

Speed and service is emphasised in the new facility, which will be run by branch managers Douglas Forsdyke and Douglas Smith, with one person staffing the trade counter at all times, and 5 more staff serving customers.

For those who want their items delivered, the branch offers delivery times from 6.30am, beating the city’s parking and offloading curfew of 7.30am, with next day delivery assured when orders are placed before 4.30pm.

Other features which improve the customer experience include free wi-fi, a TV screen at the trade counter to keep customers entertained and informed and two large presentation rooms which will benefit customers and staff alike.

Dean Fradgley, managing director of Pipe Center and Climate Center, said: “The branch will focus on delivering great service and measure all delivery performance. With a history of customer service excellence, both branches are keen to do even better in their new shared home.

“The branch and warehouse is spacious, convenient and contains new technology that really will make a difference to customer service. We also know that people make the real difference and we are delighted to have both Dougs and the team in place as we continue to expand our operation in Central London.

“We’re proud of this new branch and we want our customers to enjoy the best possible experience with us.”

Douglas Forsdyke, branch manager at City Pipe Center, said: “I’ve worked for Pipe Center for 40 years and I’ve been a branch manager for 21 of them but I feel as if I’m 18 again with this new branch opening! When I first saw the new branch, I was blown away by the sheer size and space.”

Douglas Smith, branch manager at Camberwell Climate Center added: “With the extra parking and commitment to one hour processing for pre-orders, customers can order, ‘drive through’ and get back on with the job again in no time. Five lorries will also perform deliveries direct to site, improving our service even further.bWe’re looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers through the door.”
