LONDON: The government is to use part of its infrastructure investment guarantee fund to kick-start the Green Deal.

Last month the government launched UK Guarantees to underwrite £40bn of stalled projects within the National Infrastructure Plan.

Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander is expected to confirm the Green Deal proposal at a UK Trade and Investment Infrastructure summit today .

Under the scheme the government will take major risk by offering guarantees for projects that are ready to start within 12 months.
