SHEFFIELD: Wickes Building Supplies is to open a new store at Drakehouse Retail Park, Crystal Peaks, next month.
To mark the opening the firm carried out some work at a community centre in Beighton, improving an outdoor area used by the elderly. Materials for the work and labour were provided by Wickes free of charge.
A Wickes spokesman said: "This is just the start of the community work that Wickes intends to take part in as the third store in the city settles into the Sheffield scene.
"The store is currently involved in local sports groups, local dance groups and local schools to really drive home the message that Wickes at Crystal Peaks is a community store."
The branch will be opened officially on 6 October and Sheffield's Lord Mayor Councillor John Campbell will attend.
