LOUTH: Jewson held a crime prevention day in its Louth Branch last week, offering advice to staff and customers on van and workshop security.

Police Community Support Officer Dean Warrilow from Lincolnshire Police and Andy Hunt from Group Security were on hand, providing helpful hints, tips and advice on how to protect tools, vans, workshops and homes from theft and break-ins.

Customers and staff also picked up detailed advice on how to become more aware of theft within the community. They were issued with free SmartWater packs and ‘Thieves Beware – SmartWater On Site’ signs for their places of work and homes.

SmartWater is a unique forensic solution that can be painted onto valuable and treasured items. If an item treated with SmartWater is stolen, it can easily be identified when the police have recovered them.

Andy Craven branch manager at Jewson, Louth, said: “We held a crime prevention day back in August, and it was a real success. We therefore thought it was a great idea to hold another event to give those customers that could not attend the first time around the same chance to get the advice they want. We have had great support from Lincolnshire Police and Group Security and I am 100 per cent sure we will be holding another crime prevention day in the near future, so please keep an eye out and collect your free SmartWater pack.”
