NORTHAMPTON: Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS) has launched a series of training courses for staff of the Travis Perkins Group, enabling them to support customers interested in the Green Deal.

The first two training sessions have already been held for trade counters in the South West and Wales. Each event saw presentations from SBS, accompanied by Toriga, the groups Green Deal provider, and PPL, its official training partner.

Eimear Montague, Service Development Manager for SBS, said: “The Green Deal will change the market significantly and it’s important for the Travis Perkins Group to fully engage in the opportunity it presents to branches and customers. The SBS team, in conjunction with Toriga and PPL, have an existing base of knowledge and we need to make sure this is shared across the whole Group.

“Customers will naturally ask the branches about the Green Deal and renewable energy products, so it’s vital that all members of staff have access to training and technical support to help them feel comfortable discussing this complex topic.”

Cath Mullin, Travis Perkins regional sales manager, added: “The Green Deal days have been very interesting and useful, giving an insight into what is coming. This gives us an advantage in the market place; allowing us to ask the right questions and see just how much interest there really is in the subject. The whole concept of Green Deal is very exciting both from a business point of view and a personal point of view - anyone not switched on to this is missing a huge opportunity.”
