Chandlers Building Supplies is celebrating after receiving a Special Recognition Award at the Chichester Observer Community Awards on Monday 17 December.

The accolade, which was voted for by the readers of the newspaper, recognised Chandlers involvement with a project to replace lead that had been stolen from the roof of an over 60s drop-in centre in Midhurst, West Sussex.

Chandlers was contacted about the drop- in centre’s plight by customer, Garnett Roofing, and were delighted to help by donating approximately £1000 worth of material, which included lead, ply, timber and roofing felt.

The Special Recognition Award was collected by Steve Dean, business development executive at Chandlers Building Supplies, together with Olly Wheeler and Jez Garnett, Partners at Garnett Roofing.

Mr Dean said: “At Chandlers we pride ourselves on being able to support projects in our branches local communities and when Garnett Roofing brought the situation to our attention we didn’t hesitate in offering our help. We are all thrilled to have received the Special Recognition Award and on behalf of Chandlers and Garnett Roofing, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that voted for us.”
