A local Travis Perkins branch has stepped in to help a primary school complete an outside classroom. When the budget ran out David Harari from Travis Perkins in Halebank, answered the school's plea and donated materials such as plasterboards, insulation, doors and cladding to the project.

Mr Harari said he decided to help out because "although I often hear stories like this affecting individuals, I knew that helping a school would benefit lots of people in the future which meant it seemed like a worthwhile thing to do."

Colin Johnston, site manager at Spinney Avenue school, added: "David has been fantastic in getting in touch with his suppliers and acquiring insulation, cladding, plasterboard and a door.

"This project means so much to the school and David is most definitely our metaphorical knight in shining armour."
