National builders’ merchant Travis Perkins and housebuilder Persimmon are both expected to join the FTSE 100 when the index holds its quarterly review tomorrow (12 June), according to financial industry analysts.

Shares in both companies have surged in recent weeks as investor confidence returns to the construction sector. If successful, this would be the first time that Travis Perkins has entered the FTSE 100, while Persimmon was previously a member between 2005 and 2008.

The full FTSE 100 listing will be announced tomorrow, based on the companies’ market values at the close of trading today.
