Builders’ merchant Inter-Line is taking part in a sponsored kayaking event to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Inter-Line managed to raise in excess of £5,000 for the charity last year, and will take up the challenge once again this year on 10 August. Participants shall be kayaking from Newton Abbot to Brixham Lifeboat station, covering 5 miles on the Teign and 15 at sea.

Neil Robinson, Inter-Line's financial director, said: "Last year, an intrepid team from Inter-Line embarked on a 20-mile kayak from Totnes and some 7 hours - and approximately 15,000 strokes - later, arrived at the Torbay Lifeboat Station in Brixham. We were going to rest on our laurels this year, but our conscience got the better of us and we’ve decided to do it again, and made the challenge harder with 15 miles of the challenge at sea.

"As last year, we will be supporting a fantastic charity, the RNLI, that plays such an important role in our maritime nation in saving lives at sea."
