Ridgeons group property and development director retires

Published:  15 August, 2013

Tony Greavett, group property and development director at Ridgeons, has retired after more than 40 years with the group.

Mr Greavett joined Ridgeons in 1973 and was appointed sanitaryware estimator in 1980, taking over the management of the department in 1987. In 1995, he was appointed project liaison manager for the Cambridge development move from Tenison Road to Nuffield Road, and the redevelopment of Cavendish Road to Cromwell Road.

Upon completion of this key strategic project within the City, Mr Greavett became group property and development manager in 1998. It was during this role that he was responsible for identifying new properties that could be added to the group’s property portfolio.

He was promoted to the Ridgeons Board as group property and development director in 2003, and over the years has played an instrumental role in the acquisition of a number of Ridgeons flagship branches, most recently including its Royston branch, which opened in 2012.

Director Gordon Ridgeon said: “We will be sorry to see Tony leave the group and the Ridgeons family would like to say a huge thank you to him, for all his help and for being such a loyal and dedicated member of staff – a true Ridgeons man. We wish Tony and his wife a very long and well-deserved retirement.”

Ridgeons managing director Angela Rushforth added: “Tony has been key in the sustained growth of the Ridgeons Group and is a much respected and valued member of our Board of Directors. We would like to wish him all the best for the future and thank him for all his hard work and efforts over the last 40 years.”

In addition to his director role, Mr Greavett was also involved with the Ridgeons 25 Club, which recognises the long service of employees after 25 years’ service, sitting on the committee and holding the club’s chairmanship in 2011. In 2012, he was honoured with a Special Lifetime Achievement award from Ridgeons.
