Merseyside plumbers merchant Ken Knight and his team at Ideal have been fundraising since January to help the family of customer Billy McDonald take grandaughter Jessica, who has Cerebral Pasly, to Lapland at Christmas.

Mr Knight said: "Billy’s an old friend and the staff and I wanted to do something that he and his wife could enjoy with his granddaughter, but which he wouldn’t feel was intrusive or ‘charity’.”

Ideal sales manager Lee Nickless arranged for Ideal to donate a new Logic+ boiler for the fundraising drive.

Mr Nickless said: “As someone with a close friend whose child has physical disabilities, I know how important it is for families to have some down-time together. I was delighted that Ideal agreed to help Ken’s fundraising and urge all his customers to dig deep and buy a raffle ticket. I know that Jessica and her family will have a wonderful time in Lapland – I’m going to ask Santa if I can go next year!”

The boiler will be on display at Mr Knight’s premises in Walton, Merseyside from July to the end of August, 2014. Tickets are £10 and Ken hopes to raise the final £1,200 of the £3,200 needed to fund the Lapland trip.
