BRADFORD: The Bradford branch of Selco will be participating in this year’s Mela celebrations.
The Mela, which takes place on Saturday 9 June at Peel Park in Bradford, is an annual cultural event which combines family entertainment, street theatre, market stalls, funfair rides, fantastic food and activities for the whole family to get involved in.
Selco’s stand at the Mela will feature staff from the Bradford branch who will be joined throughout the day by local celebrity Rashid Mahmood Khan from the recent Channel 4 documentary series and social experiment, ‘Make Bradford British’. The Selco stand will be promoting a charity event the following week at Selco’s branch in Bradford which will be raising funds for Macmillan Cancer support, who were recently chosen by Selco staff as the company's chosen charity for the next two years.
Fundraising activities on Saturday 16 June at Selco’s Bradford branch will include games, food, face painting, bouncy castle and a henna tattoo artist. Both Rashid and fellow ‘Make Bradford British’ star Damon will also be in attendance on the day.
Chris Roach, store manager at Selco’s Bradford branch, said: “We are really excited about getting involved in this year’s Mela as it’s a key cultural celebration in our area and we are keen to get more involved in the local community.
“We’ve been here in Bradford since 2008 and in that time we’ve built up a loyal following among tradespeople within the Bradford community.
“Selco aims to make their life easier by keeping massive stocks of the materials they need to help them complete their jobs successfully and on time, and hope to welcome more local builders and trades people to our store following the event.”
