Last month in May, staff from West Yorkshire-based Duftons Plumbing and Heating Supplies and Thomas Dudley joined forces to take part in the Midlands Tough Mudder 2016 competition, which is an 11.1 mile assault course packed full of tonnes of mud.
If that wasn’t bad enough there were 26 of the most fiendish obstacles known to man including the aptly named, Kiss of Mud, Sewer Rats, Arctic Enema and Electroshock Therapy!
All of this was completed in aid of the Make-A-Wish Foundation whose sole aim is to enhance the lives of children with life threatening illnesses.
“Tough Mudder certainly lived up to its name and it is without doubt the hardest thing I have ever done. There were moments when I wondered just what the hell I was doing,” said Nigel Fowler, managing director of Duftons Plumbing and Heating Supplies.
“That said, the camaraderie between the 20 Duftons and Thomas Dudley staff, and indeed all of the other competitors, was truly remarkable and we all felt a real sense of achievement in finishing the course.
Mr Fowler continued: “We collectively raised £2,670 for this fantastic charity, which I am certain will go to good use. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for their generous support, and in particular to Phil Irwin from Thomas Dudley for coming up with the idea.”
