UK: The parent company behind Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete UK, has launched a new awards scheme to champion sustainable construction.

Lafarge is aware of its responsibility to the environment and is committed to embracing ever more sustainable ways of managing its operations in line with its Sustainability Ambitions. This commitment, together with its industry-leading reputation for innovation and research and development has led to the birth of the Lafarge Invention Awards.

These awards will reward inventive European Research and Development projects related to aggregates, concrete, cement and gypsum. Projects submitted should involve a new product, industrial process, construction method or service, and be based on an invention less than five years old.

Researchers, entrepreneurs, inventors, academics or members of a research team have until October 15 to submit their entries, through a secure website www.lafarge-inventionawards.com

A panel made up of Lafarge executives and renowned economic and scientific experts will select three winners from ten finalists. Each winner will receive a prize of €20 000 and will benefit from Lafarge support to set up an action plan to develop his or her project.
