EAST SUSSEX: In 2010 Chandlers Building Supplies decided to take a more community based take on their work to give something back to customers and the local area. This has culminated in almost £3000 being raised for various charities and Chandlers giving away £8000 to local schools, organisations and charities.

It was the Chandlers’ Champion campaign, launched back in April with a Top Gun experience, which allowed Chandlers’ workers and their customers to raise so much money for charities of their own choosing.

The Top Gun experience saw four brave tradesmen hurl through the skies in Bulldog aircrafts. This was followed by white water rafting, sky diving and to top it all off; swimming with sharks.

Not only are the Chandlers employees and customers keen to lend a helping hand in raising money, but Chandlers has launched their very own Community Fund scheme, where local residents in Thanet and Petworth vote for a charity or organisation, to whom Chandlers then donate money. And it goes without saying that they are also there to help out these charities with any building materials they require.

Richard Skinner, commercial director for Chandlers, commented: “It is important to us that Chandler’s isn’t just a local business, but an active supporter of the community. This year we have gone some way to help a lot of local causes, but there is always more to do and I hope we can increase the amount we are able to raise in 2011!”
