BERMONDSEY: Jewson has won a major contract with Willmott Dixon to supply a new sustainable housing development for Hyde Housing Group in Bermondsey Spa.

Jewson was selected as the preferred supplier following a long-standing trading relationship with Willmott Dixon and the fact that Jewson was able to demonstrate how to deliver best value across a range of services during the selection process.

The new development is part of a larger regeneration project currently taking place in the Bermondsey Spa area, which began in December 2009. Willmott Dixon has embarked on the next phase of the development in partnership with Southwark Council (phase 3 and 4), which will consist of 314 new residential homes.

Jewson has been selected to supply over 300 NIBE heat recovery units and associated products following a procurement process undertaken by Willmott Dixon, which set out to achieve best value in terms of cost, service and additional support. In addition, Jewson will supply Bermondsey Spa with concrete blocks as well as a range of other core building materials.

Kevin Dundas, buyer at Willmott Dixon commented: “Bermondsey Spa is a large and important project for Willmott Dixon, so having an effective and reliable supply chain in place is vital to the project’s success. As Jewson was already a partnered supplier of NIBE and a preferred supplier to Willmott Dixon - the builder's merchant was the ideal choice to ensure this element of the build goes smoothly.”

Malcolm Gough, market director at Jewson commented: “We are delighted to have won the contract to supply Willmott Dixon and the Bermondsey Spa sustainable development. The issue of sustainability is at the top of Jewson’s agenda and we are proud to be playing our part in the sustainable rejuvenation of the Bermondsey Spa area.”
