LEEK: Silverstone Builders Merchants of Cheddleton has been acquired by Grafton Merchanting GB and will join its network of Buildbase branches. It will trade as Silverstone Buildbase.
The single site general builders merchant is well-established in the local area, having traded since the early 70s. The family business began as a haulage company that diversified into building materials. Serving a rural area, the company has a high percentage of delivered business and runs a three-vehicle fleet.
Nigel Wibberley, former owner at Silverstone Builders Merchant, said: “We chose to join Grafton and Buildbase because we were impressed with the way that the business is run with a strong emphasis on ‘independent’ style trading in all the branches. We have always given great customer service and this is a priority at Buildbase. The business will definitely benefit from being part of a large, progressive organisation.”
