LUTON: Gibbs & Dandy has announced that it will now be stocking Chain of Custody certified joinery and timber products across its branch network.

The scheme, which tracks, monitors and certifies the entire journey of timber from forest to sales counter, has been rolled out to all Gibbs & Dandy branches. The adoption of this auditing process and branch certification provides trade and retail customers with access to a range of environmentally accountable products, from boards, panels and machined and sawn hard and softwoods to landscaping products, kitchen cabinets and joinery products.

Chain of Custody is a traceable and transparent method of ensuring that timber is not only sourced from legal and well-managed forests, but that at every stage of its journey, including sawmills and distributors, it adheres to these ethical and environmental principles.

Andrew Cushing, marketing director for Gibbs & Dandy, said: “As a company, Gibbs & Dandy is committed to its environmental responsibilities, by stocking products with Chain of Custody certification, we are able to instil this commitment in our customers too. Increasingly, our customers require, and are entitled to know the full history of the products they purchase – Chain of Custody is a great way to guarantee the environmental validity of the supply chain.

“Government-funded projects, large contractors and self builders, frequently demand ethically sourced timber products, and many homeowners are now more aware of the importance of responsible timber sourcing. For installers, fitting Chain of Custody products can help win lucrative project work, as well as giving them an advantage over competitors in the residential market."
