COVENTRY: Isos Housing has appointed Jewson as its supplier for all planned, responsive and void maintenance works in a new five year contract - the culmination of a tender process that began in November 2010.

Isos Housing is responsible for the day-to-day management of almost 12,000 homes across the Northern England, these range from Berwick in the North down to Stockton in the South, and across Cumbria to the West. As such, Isos Property Services, faces the daily challenges of maintaining a high level of housing stock spread across a vast geographical area.

The new contract with Jewson ensures that operatives from the Isos Property Services team can take advantage of the merchant's extensive network of over 600 branches. The partnership has also seen the selection of four key Jewson branches in Sunderland, North Shield, Hexham and Morpeth with dedicated staff who remain up to speed with the needs of the contract. Furthermore, with a van stocking service for the 65 vehicle fleet plus deliveries made by Jewson direct to site, the new partnership will reduce the amount of down time contractors face travelling between sites and increase productivity.

"We appointed Jewson due to the team's collaborative, transparent and best value approach," commented Angela Johnson, group procurement manager. "It was clear from the beginning of the tender process that both sides shared the same vision for a long term commitment that would push the boundaries of traditional ways of working and instead develop new ways of working together to provide best value. In addition, we felt that Jewson offered real added value with the pledge to sponsor community and residential events as well as incorporate local employment wherever possible."

Lee Shackleton, sector sales manager, North East from Jewson, also commented on the new contract: “Working with a flexible merchant can help ensure the right solution is found for all levels of maintenance repair and that best value is achieved over the life of a contract. We are absolutely delighted to be working with Isos Housing and look forward to developing the partnership to deliver cost savings, improved efficiencies as well as helping to have a positive impact on the local community."
