MANCHESTER: BSS Industrial has introduced a customer focused format to its Manchester trade counter, making it the largest of all its UK counters.

Following the success of the dramatic refurbishment of the Nottingham trade counter in 2011, the heating and pipeline distributor has continued to roll out this layout to a number of other branches.

The Manchester store originally had only 5-6m of display shelving which restricted the amount of customer facing products that could be on show at any one time. The branch now has over 56m2 of display space which includes a brand new Hire-It counter in addition to an expansive customer side shelving and dedicated key supplier promotional areas.

Peter Sullivan, operations and sales director at BSS Industrial, commented: “The Manchester store is unrecognisable following the extensive renovation work to extend the trade counter. Customers are now benefitting from improved access to products which they can browse at their leisure rather than having to ask members of staff to retrieve them from the warehouse.

“The addition of a Hire-It trade counter means that customers also have the option to hire a wide range of top brand equipment including pressing and welding tools and threading machines.”

The new look counter has a number of areas to relax and talk to staff with leather sofas and breakfast bars, as well as a full Scruffs clothing and footwear section.

Mr Sullivan concluded: “The success of the format at BSS Nottingham proves that customers are responding to a layout which is more spacious and interactive. We’re confident that we will achieve the same positive feedback in Manchester as we have done in Nottingham.”
