STOKE: The chief executive of Methven UK, Steve Lee, has been elected president of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) at the organisation’s AGM.

Mr Lee has more than 25 years' experience in the bathroom industry, having joined Bristan in 1991, before becoming chief executive of global designer and manufacturer of premium showers and tapware, Methven UK, in 2010. Mr Lee succeeds retiring president, Ian Stuart, chairman of Aqualisa.

As new president, Mr Lee has vowed to continue to promote the BMA as the voice of the industry and to work to attract new members to strengthen the organisation. He said more must be done by the industry to change the nation’s attitude to water saving and that over the coming months, the BMA would continue to focus on promoting the Water Label scheme.

Acknowledging the difficult climate, Mr Lee said this year’s Annual Bathroom Conference on the 9 October would focus on the current retail challenges facing the industry: “This year’s conference will look at the changing face of retail and both the challenges and opportunities presented by the internet. It has been a tough few years for the industry, but we hope the conference will be full of valuable advice and good news.”
