THORNE: Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has ensured that music at a South Yorkshire academy continues to hit a high note thanks a generous donation.
The support from Howarth Timber & Building Supplies in Thorne is a major boost to the opportunities for students at Trinity Academy to take up a wind instrument.
Trinity is well known in the area for its shows and concerts and the donation will pay for six new instruments to give more students the chance to learn the flute, clarinet or saxophone.
John Brandon, manager of the Thorne branch, said: "I really believe in what they're doing at Trinity. The principal Mr Brew is fantastic and what he and his team have achieved benefits the whole community.
"We are pleased to support them, especially through music and providing instruments that will be a lasting legacy in terms of opportunities for students now and in the future."
Howarth Timber and Building Supplies Ltd has supported the academy before with a donation towards the annual Tall Ship expedition and by offering work programmes to students.
Sam Fisher, the academy's head of music, said: "Every student is entitled to ask for the opportunity to learn an instrument. Woodwind is an area we want to build up so we are immensely grateful for the donation from Howarth Timber and Building Supplies Ltd."
