Selco Builders' Warehouse has further cemented its strong sporting links after being announced as Birmingham Speedway’s ‘team title’ sponsors for 2013.

Selco took its first venture into speedway 12 months ago and was thrilled with the sustained national exposure provided by its sponsorship of the Brummies. And that ensured there was no hesitation when the opportunity arose to extend the agreement with the team, which finished third in last season’s elite league.

Last season’s sponsorship brought around 50 hours of sky sports television coverage, as well as sustained local, regional and national brand awareness across multiple media platforms. The sponsorship also proves an ideal geographical fit for Selco, which was formed in Birmingham and retains a strong presence in the city.

Simon Humpage, marketing manager for Selco Builders' Warehouse, said: “The success of the 2012 season made the decision to continue our sponsorship a very easy one. "Last year was our first season in speedway and it exceeded all our expectations. The sport is a great vehicle to increase our brand awareness. We’ve had excellent feedback from the fans and we are looking forward to an exciting and successful season ahead. There is a great supporter base around the brummies and it’s extremely pleasing for us that a lot of the team’s followers are also loyal selco customers.”

Brummies co-owner Alan Phillips was delighted to see the link with Selco extended. “It’s great to have Selco back on board after they offered tremendous support last year,” he said. “It’s a very comfortable partnership and long may it continue.”

The extension to the sponsorship agreement was announced at the perry barr branch of selco builders warehouse, just around the corner from the Brummies home track.

Riders Ben Barker and Josh Auty were also confirmed as signings for 2013.
