The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has announced the names of those in the running for three awards for individuals working in BMF member companies who are making an exceptional contribution to the building materials sector.

The awards, which originated in 2013 with the first Young Merchant Achiever accolade, honour those who have demonstrated an ability to go above and beyond for their organisations; for example by introducing and implementing new ideas and concepts, or creating new opportunities that have a positive impact on the business.

Commenting on the nominations, John Newcomb, BMF CEO, said: “With so much talk about skill shortages and the difficulties of getting young people into the industry, it’s easy to overlook the fact that there is already a pool of extremely talented young people working in the building materials sector.

"These awards are designed to recognise their commitment, innovation and real-life achievements, which contribute to the success of their respective businesses.”

The winners will be revealed at the annual BMF Members Conference and Awards on 18 September at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham.
