The merchant believes the move sends a powerful signal that could drive the widespread adoption of low-carbon heating solutions.
Bradfords Building Supplies has welcomed an announcement by Government today (Tuesday 18 November) that the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is being expanded to offer a £2,500 discount off the cost of installing an air-to-air heat pump.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme currently offers grants of £7,500 off the cost of installing an air source or ground source heat pump, which can keep homes warm during the winter.
Mark Smale, Head of Renewables, said: "It is great news that the Government has decided to expand the Boiler Upgrade Scheme to include air-to-air heat pumps and heat batteries. Air to air heat pumps are not only more cost effective for households, they are also highly adaptable and importantly familiar, using the same technology as air conditioning.
"At Bradfords, we know from our partnerships with developers, installers, and builders, that choice is paramount when it comes to uptake. We have been discussing these solutions for years with suppliers and have seen how rapidly the technology has evolved even over that time.
"With this announcement, the Government is sending a powerful signal which will hopefully drive widespread adoption of low-carbon heating solutions."
