LUTON: In a bid to improve service and streamline operations, Gibbs & Dandy has made a significant investment into a new computer system.
Implemented across all branches, the new computer system represents a brave move by the specialist building supplies company – investing in technology, during an unsettled financial climate, to deliver improved front-end service to customers, while managing its internal operational processes.
Following a three-month change over period, the new system is now fully implemented, and the merchant is already noticing reduced waiting times in store, as well as easier account handling and management processes.
Tania Tams, the merchant's marketing director, said: "The integration of the computer system upgrade has been a real success, helped by our constant communication with staff and customers during the switchover and by our workforce's effort to make the transition as smooth as possible.
"The changes have made a dramatic difference to the speed and effectiveness of our trade counter service. Whilst, behind the scenes, there is improved communication and resource sharing, which has streamlined wastage and time management.
"Despite a challenging economy, we felt it was important to invest now for our future success and stability, and we're confident that the changes we've implemented today, will have a positive impact on our customer's and our own business outlook."
