LEICESTER: BSS Industrial welcomed over one hundred customers and suppliers to the second annual ‘BSS Challenge Cup’ which took place on 24th-26th June 2010.

Battling through some of the hottest weather of the year, 15 teams chartered a fleet of luxury ‘Oceanis 37’ yachts for an adventure on the Solent.

The first day saw the teams meet each other for the first time for a briefing and a practice run. All allegiances made in the evening festivities were soon forgotten as the real racing got underway on the Friday.

The challenge saw the boat sponsored by Wilo taking home the top trophy, with the Polypipe Terrain boat coming in second. Dan Wild from Wilo and member of the winning team, said: “Winning this event was a great feeling. The Challenge Cup is a real adventure and a wonderful opportunity for business relationships to be built as well as meeting customers and suppliers in a fantastic setting and atmosphere.

Frank Elkins, managing director of BSS Industrial, added: “We were fortunate enough to have fantastic weather and this definitely helped generate a real sense of team spirit. The wind picked up in the afternoon which resulted in some very competitive racing and an exciting finish. It was a great occasion to spend some time with our customers and we hope they had a memorable experience. We would like to thank each of them for taking part and our suppliers for their support, as the event wouldn’t have been possible without them.”

The event didn’t forget BSS Industrial’s partner charity with  £3000 raised for Rainbow Trust, which provides support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.

The sponsors of the 2010 BSS Challenge Cup were Conex Banninger, Crane, Durapipe, Flamco, Geberit, George Fischer, Grundfos, ISG, Marla Tube Fittings, Metsec, Mueller, Pegler Yorkshire, Polypipe Terrain, Wilo and Yorkshire Copper Tube.
