Jewson has once again pulled out all the stops for its ‘together’ charity partner Barnardo’s, after raising over £20,000 through its annual cycle event, the Tour de Jewson.

The event kicked off on the 9th September, and once again brought together customers, suppliers and employees to cycle over 2,500 miles.

More than 200 participants took part in this year’s event, including 38 customers, 49 suppliers and 127 Jewson employees. All were escorted by support van crews, while they made their way across the country to finish in John O’Groats on the 21st September.

“We are incredibly proud of the work undertaken by all of our employees to raise funds for Barnardo’s,” said Peter Stringer, managing director of Jewson. “At Jewson, we strive to increase the positive impact we have on local communities and our employees have embraced our commitment to charity whole heartedly.”

Now a regular fixture in the merchant’s calendar, the last four successive Tour de Jewson events have raised over £100,000.

Mr Stringer continued: “The Tour de Jewson is our largest charity event and it’s wonderful to see so many of our customers, suppliers and employees coming together for a common goal. Since our ‘together’ programme was launched in 2002, we have helped to raise over £2m, alongside our sister brands, for a range of worthwhile charities. We look forward to continuing our efforts with Barnardo’s for the remainder of this year.”

Trina Gable, corporate relationship manager at Barnardo's concluded: “Barnardo's is committed to working with the most disadvantaged, vulnerable and neglected children in the UK. The staggering amount of money raised through the ‘together’ partnership by Jewson, and its sister brands, will go directly to helping these children and our sincere thanks go to all who participated in or sponsored the Tour de Jewson.”
