Burdens, part of Wolseley Infrastructure, has announced the promotion of Mark Gillies to the newly expanded role of Director of Technical Solutions.
Gillies joined Burdens in 2018 as Business Development Director for Geotechnics, and has played a key role in establishing and scaling the specialist offer. Since the launch of the geotechnics function, sales have grown at a rapid pace, supported by the development of a dedicated technical team and a strong focus on specialist-led solutions.
In his new role, Gillies will lead Burdens’ combined geotechnics and water solutions strategy, with responsibility for driving collaboration across disciplines, supporting branches with technical expertise and accelerating growth across the business’ specialist portfolio. The expanded remit is designed to mirror the success of geotechnics across to Technical Solutions.
Commenting on his promotion, Gillies said: “Burdens Technical Solutions has huge potential, and this new role allows us to build on what has already been achieved while bringing our specialist teams closer together. Our aim is to create a true centre of excellence that helps customers save time, reduce costs and lower carbon through smarter design, specification and delivery.”
Ken Graham, Director of National Sales at Burdens, added: “Since its inception nearly five years ago, our Technical Solutions offer has grown significantly, and we continue to see major opportunities to increase our share in geotechnics and water management solutions. Mark has been instrumental in that success, and his appointment reflects both the growth of the business and our ambition to further develop Burdens Technical Solutions as a key driver of value for our depots and external sales teams.”
