National Timber Group, a market-leading added-value timber distribution company, has filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator.
According to its website the business has a £300 million turnover, 1,200 employees, 150 suppliers and more than 25,000 customers.
The England division of National Timber Group encompasses a wide network of sites across the country, operating under well-known brands such as Arnold Laver, Rembrand Timber, Thornbridge Timber, National Timber Systems, Hymor Timber, Glow Insulation & Site Supplies, Scotia Roofing & Building Supplies, SV Timber, Orchard Timber Products and NORclad.
National Timber Group has a strong national coverage with 25 locations in Scotland and 22 in England, which include 12 merchant sites, ten distribution sites, five manufacturing, four door solutions and two specialist sites.
Its most recent accounts, for the year ending 31 December 2023, show turnover of more than £196 million, but a pre-tax loss of £6.3 million and a workforce of over 1,000 people. According to its website, National Timber Group has 1,200 employees, 150 suppliers and more than 25,000 customers.
Founded in Sheffield in 1920 by Arnold Laver, the business has grown into a major supplier to joiners, regional housebuilders, contractors and large-scale infrastructure projects.
